This information is designed to answer some
questions
that
members new to rallies and the centre may find useful.
Q.
What is a rally?
A.
A rally is a group of people meeting together in their caravans at various different sites, which vary from farms to stately homes from schools to theme parks.
Q.
What happens on a rally?
A.
Some weekends have a particular theme such as Christmas Party, Children's Rally, sporting events and others may have a social arranged or some are a quiet weekend relaxing in the countryside.
Q.
Do I have to join in?
A.
You are free to participate if you wish but no-one will press you into doing anything you do not wish to.
Q.
Will my children be welcome?
A.
Children are part of our Centre, they will make friends easily and probably introduce you to other parents. Ball games, kite flying and other games that could cause damage to caravans must be played away from the caravans for obvious reasons.
Q.
Are there many rules?
A.
The rules we have are designed for everyone's safety and health, such as speed on the rally field is strictly walking pace, 5 mph, as young children may be playing and indeed, members of all ages can forget about cars when walking around the rally.
Q.
Can I bring my dog?
A.
Dogs are welcome but you are asked to keep your dogs on a 4 ft lead whilst on the rally field and not to let it foul the ground near the caravans.
Q.
Wha t else can I expect?
A.
Most weekends there are friendly competitions and a raffle, the results are announced at 'flagpole', which is normally held on a Sunday morning, coffee, tea and biscuits are served, so in good weather bring your chairs for a sociable get together.
Q.
So how do I book into a rally?
A.
Send a booking form to the volunteer Rally Officer as named in the handbook, indicating if you require a rally plaque and newspapers which will be delivered.
Please try to book in at least one week prior, so the Rally Officers know what numbers they can expect to be catering for.
Q.
What time can I arrive at the rally?
A.
Most rallies open at 4 pm on the Friday, unless stated differently in the handbook or in the Rally Round Newsletter.
There is further general information about our rallies in the East Surrey handbook. If you have never attended a rally why not look through your handbook, choose a rally and give it a try. A friendly welcome will be waiting for you. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact any Committee member.
